What is filmclassics.com.au?

Film Classics is a place dedicated to the love of classic movies. We have over 5,000 titles in our catalog updated weekly.

Is there any packaging or artwork with your titles?

Our public domain movies come in cases with artwork, but the artwork displayed on our site may differ from the actual product. Studio releases also come in cases with artwork, and are usually the same as the picture shown, but some variations may occur.

What movies do you have?

We offer mainly classic movies (pre-1980). We have studio releases and films that have not been commercially released and are in the public domain. Due to the rarity of our public domain movies please forgive any minor natural imperfections in the films themselves.

What is public domain?

A work has entered public domain because either the copyright has not been applied for or it has expired. Anything that is not protected under the copyright law can include works published between 1928 and under certain circumstances works published up to 1978. Re-published and re-packaged public domain information or creative works are not illegal. The reason is that because the work has fallen into the public domain there are no royalties to pay on the work.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship anywhere in the world.

How much is shipping?

Shipping costs vary depending on Location. You can can get a shipping quote by viewing your cart at any time during the ordering process or see the Shipping Tables on the Customer Service page.

Will your discs play in my DVD player?

Our region-free public domain DVDs will play in virtually all newer DVD players. PAL format dvd’s will not play on standard dvd players in the United States and Canada.

What is your return/refund policy?

We accept returns, but you MUST include a note with the return. We will not consider sending replacements or issuing a refund unless you have communicated the problem(s) to us. Please see the details below for more information on our return policy.

Attention US/ CANADA buyers . We do NOT give refunds if you purchase a PAL format dvd and you cannot play it on your standard dvd player , You need a PAL compatible player to be able to play these type of DVD’s . They are clearly stated as such in the description.

Public Domain Films: Our policy is our Film Classics Guarantee!

Our #1 goal at Film Classics is to provide good quality classic movies to film collectors like you. As part of that mission we have created The Film Classics Guarantee. If you are unhappy with the quality of your movie you can choose from one of the following options:

  1. If the quality is unacceptable to you we can try to get a better copy of the film you ordered.
  2. If we are unable to get a better copy you choose another title of equal of lessor value (not including shipping) to replace your original order.
  3. We can issue store credit for a future order (shipping not included)
    (Note: Customers must request an RMA and must ship defective movies back in order to receive replacement or store credit. Customer is responsible for return shipping fees.)

All other Releases:
Many of the studios DVD-Rs are manufactured on demand and are marked as one way sales – no returns. Should you receive a defective item, we will gladly replace it with the same title. (Note: Customers must request an RMA and customer is responsible for return shipping fees.)

We reserve the right to refuse service and/or cancel any orders for any reason at our discretion.

What Is PAL?

PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line, which is a television encoding system that is used in many countries throughout the world. PAL is an analog system. A PAL DVD is simply a DVD that uses the PAL encoding system.
DVDs come in a number of different formats, which are used in different parts of the world. The PAL format is used in a large portion of the world but not in the United States; the U.S. uses a different format known as NTSC.

Where Is PAL Used?

PAL is currently used in over 120 countries around the world. Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe and Africa use the PAL system. There are a number of different versions of PAL but they are interoperable.

DVD Players

PAL DVDS use a 625-line/50HZ line count and frame rate system, while NTSC DVDs use a 525-line/60HZ system. The formats are not compatible; you must have a DVD player that can handle a PAL disc to be able to watch it. A multi-region DVD player will play a number of different DVD formats.

How is the quality of your movies?

Studio releases are excellent quality. Most of our public domain prints are good and we try to offer the best prints available.

How long will it take to ship my titles?

In-stock items ship within an average of 3 business days, but in some cases it can take up to 5 business days. If any of your titles are out of stock we will notify you. Items on back order may not be available for shipment for 1-4 weeks. Film Classics may choose to ship in-stock titles right away or hold the entire order until all titles are available. Choosing to send orders in multiple shipments in done at Film Classics discretion and expense.

What is your privacy policy?

Film Classics does not sell or trade your private information. Your email address is only used to send you information about our products and services and you can opt out of this at any time. Your email is automatically added to our subscriber list when you place your first order.

Do you offer discounts for large orders?

Yes. Please contact us and let us know which titles you’re interested in. Discounts are largely dependent on the availability of the movies.

What kind of payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard , Amex , PayPal and PAY in 4 through our secure shopping cart. Money orders can be mailed in. We also accept Phone orders.

Is your website secure?

Our shopping cart and payment processing is secured by our merchant processor. This ensures that all information you send to us will be encrypted.

What is My Account?

My Account is a customer dashboard in our WooCommerce store. Customers can view past orders, edit addresses, and payment details. If you wish to access My Account create a login by clicking on the link in the main menu.

How does the Wish List work?

If you would like to save Movies for later, click the ‘Add to Wishlist’ link below the ‘Add to Cart’ button on any product. Here you can save titles for purchase at a later date or share the link to your Wishlist with others.

Who can download your movies?

Anyone, as long as you have an email address, you can download from anywhere in the world.

Which video format do you use?

Nearly all our downloads are MP4s which is the most common video file format, and can be played on most devices and TVs.

Can I watch my download on my TV?

Yes, although your download will be downloaded to your PC or Phone etc. It is quite easy to play it on your TV. If it’s on your phone, with a suitable app you can cast the video to your TV. If you downloaded to a computer, an easy way is to transfer your download to a “flash drive” or “memory stick”, most modern TVs have a USB socket installed, just plug the flash drive into your TV via the USB socket, then press the media button on your TV remote.

How many times can I play my download?

There is no limit. Once downloaded the file is yours to keep. Without any restrictions on how many times you can watch it.
