Description

In 1938, Four Daughters packed movie palaces, making a star out of John Garfield and winning hearts with it’s appealing depiction of the Lemps, a family that shares an unshakeable bond between parent and child, sister and sister. In 1939 the Lemps were back (Garfield’s character, who died in the earlier film, makes a ghostly appearance) for another tender drama of everyday life. This time, all the sisters wed – even widowed Ann finds marital happiness – and joyfully prepare for the tears and laughter of motherhood. Returning Four Daughters talent includes the original cast, director Michael Curtiz, scripter Julius J. Epstein (this time working with his brother Philip G.) and Max Steiner, who provides another splendid score.
