Hoping to escape their shady pasts, two former saloon workers, Clint (Rock Hudson) and Tacey (Anne Baxter), move to a small town with Clint’s younger brother (Barry Curtis) and an orphaned girl (Natalie Wood).
Clint takes a job at a bank in order to gain some respectability, but he soon catches the eye of the banker’s daughter (Julie Adams), who will do anything to get her man.
